Covid-19: 30 day 500k challenge for Suicide Prevention.
(Mind Jersey)

As of today, I will be attempting 500k in 30 days. My target is to push 16k per day, raising funds for those suffering from mental health during this crisis. The average number of suicides per day in the UK is 16.

The total number of suicides, strokes and heart attacks worldwide out weighs the total number of corona related deaths. With that said, I stand by the governments decision to lockdown (for now), however seeing our economy fail and people’s lives taken affects me deeply.

In my opinion, both are preventable. One through social distancing, the other therapy. So my funds raised will go to Mind Jersey, to support James Le F and the team we have built a solid rapport with over the years via good vibrations.

In 2008 we saw a global recession via one sector (highly leveraged banks). Corona virus however hits all sectors and poses challenges to the rich, stable and poor. With unemployment set to go to record highs, we can expect to see not only a global recession, but a global depression (1930’s) = a massive spike in suicides. We are in a catch 22 situation (who do we focus on saving), but with effort and persistence, we can save both. We need to think of everyone in need, not just those with corona virus.

With the post being related to unemployment, I don’t feel it’s right to set a target as a lot of people are out of work. For those who can, any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Adam :)
