I am running the Brighton Marathon for the The Quicken Trust and their meal deal appeal. They are a charity based down the road from me who mean so much to my family and I.  Currently we sponsor a young orphan lad so he is able to attend school each day .

The Meal Deal Appeal is a project to feed up to 500 children every school day with a maize-based porridge drink in the morning and a maize-based meal of ‘posho’ and beans for lunch. Just £1 of sponsorship from you will cover the cost of 1 of these meals.

Basic food prices went up by around 30% in 2011. With 1,000 mouths to feed every school day it takes a lot of doing when prices go up like that! Quicken Trust are also looking at the possibility of
acquiring some land to grow maize to help underwrite future food price increases.
