Story

A bit about what I'm doing: This year, I'll be running the London Marathon. Even saying that makes my knees go weak, so we'll see how I get on once the day comes around. I'm an avid parkrunner (a nice 5k jolly on Saturday mornings), but running a marathon is definitely pushing me out of my comfort zone. However, I am motivated by the incredible and important job that The Bike Project is doing.

A bit about why I'm doing it: The Bike ProjectImagine living on £36 a week. It's enough for food, perhaps, but what about travel? If you need a new pair of shoes, what sacrifices will you have to make? These hard choices are the daily reality of a refugee in London. Bikes to the Rescue! We take second-hand bikes, fix them up and donate them to refugees and asylum-seekers. Why? One of our bikes can save a refugee £21 a week in bus fares. Having fled persecution and atrocity in their homeland, a bike helps them access food banks, legal advice, healthcare, education and more.

Our mission is simple: to get refugees cycling! We take second-hand bikes, fix them up, and donate them to refugees and asylum seekers. A bike helps refugees and asylum-seekers access food banks, legal advice, healthcare, education and much more.
