Story

I would like to take a moment to thank you for your interest in our Women’s Soccer program. As head coach, I am truly excited about the progress we have made both on and off the field. As a team we completed the season with a 6-11-1 record (one goal losses in 8 of the 11 losses) ranked in the top 3rd in strength of schedule. Sadly, our season ended in the USA South Tournament Quarter Finals in overtime. However, and proudly, we boast the highest team cumulative grade point average in Wesleyan Athletics at 3.56 and for the eight consecutive year we’ve received the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) Team Academic Award.

Our program has had fundraising success in the past thanks to alumni, families, friends and fans like you. For example, in 2015 the team started a very profitable brick sale raising over $14,000 for the new Scalf Field Entrance. That project was officially completed and dedicated last Fall and looks amazing. In 2018 we completed our next two projects: a soccer, service and educational trip to Italy that positively impacted our subsequent seasons … and the purchase of upgraded video/webcasting equipment. Last year, we were able to purchase new practice gear, the Titan GPS system, and a portable goal system. As you can see, we try to be good stewards of the money we raise and use the proceeds to benefit all current players, as well as future recruits!

Our current fundraising initiatives are to quickly replace very old uniforms by purchasing new “away” match uniforms for the upcoming Fall 2020 season arrives. It has been nearly a decade since they have been replaced. In addition, we want to raise additional monies to supplement expenses for our upcoming International team travel to Southern Italy in January 2021. This trip will be the fourth of its kind in my coaching tenure at NC Wesleyan. Each trip has invaluable cultural, academic and athletic experiences for each player and really unites us as a team.

The North Carolina Wesleyan College Women’s Soccer Team prides itself on the mantra that “Tradition Never Graduates” and our team is determined to grow to be in the top tier of Division III women’s soccer programs. With a tradition that includes nine conference championships and repeated runs in the NCAA tournament, along with your support, we are on our way to claiming that top spot.

None of the progress above would be possible without the generosity of supporters, like you, and we sincerely thank you!

Sincerely,
Beverly A. Biancur
