Today marks the start of Shelters Work For Home week. While we are all keeping safe at home, so many people dont have a home to keep safe in.
You will know that Shelter is our partner charity, what you may not know is that they need us now more than ever. With challenge events, like the London Marathon, being cancelled, Shelter is seeing an unprecedented spike in the number of calls they are receiving (and their call centres operators are working from home). 60% of the calls are from people experiencing hardship due to COVID-19, and a worryingly large number of these are in frontline services.
Shelter have launched Work For Home. The simple idea is that we encourage as many people as possible to donate what they would have spent on their commute, coffee, lunch etc. on one day in work while raising awareness for Shelters cause. Its an easy way to use our working day to do good and will help Shelter protect more peoples homes during these tough times.
