Story
The rate of babies born premature or sick in the UK is rising with 1 in every 7 babies needing neonatal care.
My very own little Oliver was born prematurely after I went into labour at 33 weeks pregnant . He was born with severe respiratory distress and shortly after birth diagnosed with neonatal sepsis . He had a 2 week stay in Forth Valley NICU. He was on CPAP then High flow oxygen to steady his breathing and given intensive antibiotic treatment to fight the infection . He also received double phototherapy and was tube fed into his wee tummy until he was strong enough to feed himself . This was a stressful , worrying and challenging time for my husband and I and the wider family (who couldn’t visit due to the coronavirus pandemic ) .
The emotional and practical support charities like Bliss can provide to parents is invaluable during such a demanding and worrying time .Bliss is continuing the fight to improve outcomes and quality of life for these babies - but we need your help to do that.
We will be forever grateful for the support and care we received on the neonatal unit ❤️❤️ . We can never thank the amazing nurses and doctors, who cared for Oliver, enough .
