I signed up to do the Edinburgh Marathon last year just to have a fitness goal. I wasn't intending to fundraise this year after so many of you gave so generously to my London Marathon cause last year, but last month my sensationally brilliant Granddad passed away after suffering from Alzheimer's.

The Memory Clinic he went to was supported by Alzheimer's Society and the support they were able to give to both my granddad and my nan was wonderful. 

My granddad lived to the ripe old age of 91 with a pretty amazing bill of health but in those last few months it was so painful to watch him gradually lose his independence and sense of self.
