This summer I have been given the opportunity to go to Malawi with my school. The tour has four main objectives:

 1. To cement a link with a school in the Third World, Kamuzu Academy, in order to promote educational and social contacts.

2. To identify, participate in and raise finance for educational and medical projects in the Kasungu region of Malawi.

3. To assist St Andrew’s Orphanage, Chilanga School for the Blind and Open Arms Orphanage to help improve the lives of the disadvantaged.

4. To experience and undertake a wide range of economic, geographical and cultural activities within Malawi in order to develop active awareness of developing countries’problems, cultures and people.

Over the course of 3 1/2 weeks we will be doing charity work and various other activities such as:

1. Visits to rural villages and primary schools.

2. Visits to tobacco, coffee and tea plantations.

3. Investigate environmental problems associated with wildlife, pollution and de-forestation.

4. Visit and donate equipment and funds to medical units in Kasungu and Blantyre

5. View the work and meet the children of several orphanages.

6. Visit Chilanga School for the Blind donating specialist equipment

7. Decorating and opening a new teaching classroom block at three rural primary schools.

As you can see, the money is going to a great cause and any little donation helps!
