Story

My name is Aditya Asnani and I grew up in Nigeria for 10 years.  I have always loved chess, since I was a child, and I was also passionate to help other people to learn it. This will be a fun charitable chess tournament which will hopefully get a lot of you  to start learning chess.

Constantly seeing many of the locals suffer, I knew that I had to make a change to this. Clean water is one of the most difficult things to get in Nigeria, and I felt hurt to see all of the locals not having much clean water. By donating some money to me, all of this money will go into helping a lot of Nigerians finally accomplish one of their dreams as well as mine. Below is an article explaining about the charity which I will be donating to.

783 million people worldwide do not have access to clean and safe drinking water, over 60 million of these are living in Nigeria, and over 18 million are living in Kenya.

80% of illnesses in developing countries like Nigeria are linked to poor water and sanitation conditions. The availability of a safe and clean potable water source in the community would go an enormous way to reducing the casualties of these preventable diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea.

To begin to respond to this catastrophic global water crisis, we are starting small and working with one community at a time with our Pumping Sunshine project.

Global One is building solar-powered water pumps that allow surrounding communities to benefit from a safe and sustainable water source. These pumps improve the lives of members of impoverished communities in a number of ways: by reducing the number of waterborne diseases that they have to fight, and by simply unburdening people from the long journeys they would previously take to fetch water. Now communities have more hours in the day to spend how they like, whether that be in school or earning a living.
Using renewable energy benefits communities in many additional ways; not spending money on diesel to work the pump leaves them with more disposable income whilst also reducing the level of harmful, toxic fumes released into the air, improving air quality, all the while, helping the planet.

We want to continue to transform communities by Pumping Sunshine into their lives. Your donations will help to fund the construction of a solar-powered water pump in a rural impoverished community.
