F.A.B.L.E Charity enhances the quality of lives for those with or associated to Epilepsy. This is done by offering support and advice, raising awareness of the condition, distributing information on all aspects of Epilepsy and awarding grants for equipment.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

There have been two tragic events in the last year affecting our  AdminRe colleagues:  Anthony Mooney and Ian Lam.

As a response to us wanting to do something to help,  a number of employees have created an AdminRe Charity Bike ride to raise money for the charities chosen by the families involved. Originally scheduled for August, the ride will now take place on 18/19th September.

The riders bravely stepping forward with Lycra and flapjack in hand for this challenge are:

  • Matthew Dobson;
  • Alex Latham-Boal;
  • Mike Melsom;
  • Ian Patrick;
  • Stuart Wilkinson; and
  • Mike Woodcock.

Steve Shore has also been involved in the creation of the event, but is now unable to join.

The Bike route chosen incorporates 3 of our AdminRe offices with riders covering 170miles. The group will cycle from the AdminRe offices in Telford, to the Hitchin office, then carry on St.Mary Axe in London. Due to the length, the ride will take two days, and take place mid September.

Thank you for your interest in sponsoring us. We intend to split our sponsorship 50:50 between our two charities.Justgiving fundraising pages are limited to one charity, so we have linked separate pages for our two charities with the intention of raising an equal amount for each. Of course, if you have a strong preference please feel free to choose one, as all support will be gratefully received.

Thank you.

The AdminRe Charity Bike Ride Team

Ian Lam

Ian was a very much liked and respected member of our Finance team in Telford, working in the accounts payable team. His accident was a severe shock and the tragic loss was deeply felt by many in the team.

The charity we are raising money for, fable, was selected by Ian Lam's wife to raise awareness of the effects of an illness Ian had. The following is taken from her own fund raising site set up in his memory:

"My husband died following a tragic accident at Southwater Telford Town Centre as a result of Epilepsy related Postictal Psychosis, estimated to be 6% to 10% in patients with Epilepsy.

As a result of this, I hope to raise some funds towards raising the awareness of the seriousness of this illness and help families who have or are affected by this.

Thank you very much for your support and donation."
