Story
In October 2020 our little girl Abbie was born with a rare heart
condition and needed open heart surgery at just a month old.
From the moment we learned about Abbie's condition during my wife's pregnancy we were supported by the amazing team at the Freeman Hospital and The Children's Heart Unit Fund.
Immediately after Abbie was born she was transported to Ward 23 at the Freeman Hospital where I stayed there with her for 3 days till my wife could join us.
CHUF provide supplies and support for parents on the unit to make life
in the hospital more bearable. This help was invaluable and even just being able to have a bottle of water and some toast meant so much in those early days.
I'm happy to say Abbie is now healthy and thriving under the care of the Freeman Hospital but not all children have such an easy road to recovery.
CHUF do so much for heart hero children and I feel it's important I give
back and do my little part to help. That's why on Sunday 15th August, I will be braving the coals and firewalking in Newcastle City Centre to raise funds that will help CHUF continue to do their amazing work.
Please, join me in supporting CHUF to continue supporting parents,
children and families while they go through difficult times.
