FACT needs your help to support people affected by cancer during the corona virus outbreak. Our fundraising activities have been cancelled, yet the need for our services has increased, with the added complication of having to deliver them remotely

Story

Fighting All Cancers Together (FACT) was first
established in 2008 by a young local Mum, inspired by her own experience of being diagnosed with Cancer.   Joanne became aware of the lack of services and support for her and her family after her treatment came to an end and began small groups herself in the shape of a coffee morning and the services grew from there.

13 years later she is still the fighting force of FACT with
the same ethos only now we have a ‘FACT family’ made up of service users, volunteer’s beneficiaries and local support from businesses and community.  From what started in a back bedroom of Joanne’s home, FACT is now supporting over 2613 beneficiaries in some way shape or form and this number is growing.  The impact a cancer diagnosis can have on a person and their family and friends doesn’t just last from diagnosis to end of treatment, sometimes this is exactly when the support is needed most.

Services and support include:  Counselling, Wig service, Bra fitting and mastectomy wear, Holistic and complimentary therapies, Family, men’s and ladies’ social groups, exercise classes (HIIT, walking group, Pilates and yoga) and many more.  Due to covid restrictions and advice from Public Health England many of these sessions are waiting to return and some have been able to continue or in a remote capacity. FACT’s fundraising opportunities were also limited due to covid restrictions

Every day, in the UK, around a thousand people are diagnosed with cancer and that they need support as they and their families and friends begin their cancer journey.
