Story
I last covered the 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields in 2014, so before ten years slip by I’ve decided to run it again!
I’m running in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK, a charity that funds medical research to discover cures for the diseases that cause dementia.
Dementia devastates the lives of sufferers and the lives of those who love and care for them. It robs people of their memories, their personality and their dignity. Nearly 1 million people in the UK suffer from dementia.
Sadly, there is no treatment that can halt or reverse this condition, so ARUK’s funding of medical research to better understand, diagnose, and treat all types of dementia is vital to overcoming it.
Some of this research is being pursued by my colleagues at Newcastle University, and I know how much they rely on the support of ARUK to make further progress.
Thomas, my eldest, is running with me to help me get to the finish in the best time I can! I hope our many steps in the GNR will take the science one small step nearer to a cure!
I would be delighted if you could sponsor me to help me reach my target of £1250 for ARUK. Every pound you give will spur me on!
Thank you!
Adrian.
