In Febuary 2021 my Wife Karyn, passed away suddenly as a result of undiagnosed Heart Disease. We'd been married for over 25 years and had 3 Children and 2 Grandchildren. As you can imagine this was a terrible time for us all.

In the two years pior to this shattering event, I'd lost 4 close friends in similar circumstances.

It's because of this I decided to raise money for Heart Research UK. Partly as a way to remember Karyn but also help fund vital research which could help prevent such tragedies in the future.

Whilst it's true I have run a marathon before, I'm not a natural runner and haven’t run anywhere near this distance for many, many, years, so this constitutes a huge challenge for me. 

I chose London, as I know how valuable these places are, both to the charity and to thousands of other runners who would love the chance to run it. I use this as my motivation to make sure I give this everything I have.
