Story
During her treatment, Meg spent a lot of time at the Churchill hospital. Whenever possible she would leave the ward and walk to Maggies centre and spend time in its beautiful and peaceful surroundings. I would often arrive to visit and find her sitting on the balcony watching the surrounding woodland. - Maggies centres are all based on innovative and inspiring architecture. The Oxford centre is built on stilts as a tree house.
I would often bring a picnic to share, a change from the hospital food, and we would spend hours watching the wildlife, sheltering from the rain - though of course we stayed outside- and, being Meg, drinking gallons of tea.
She loved spending time there and it was wonderful for us both to spend time outside the hospital environment. Their focus on support and quality of life was a perfect match for Meg.
