Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Sadly Nigel (my Dad) passed away on 19th July following several years of suffering from Parkinson’s disease and dementia, the sad demise of a very talented architect and father.
I have committed to cycling from Paris to Brest and
back in 4 days to raise money for Parkinson’s UK, the Parkinson's charity that drives better care, treatments and quality of life for sufferers.
I have previously undertaken several long distance cycle rides
including London-Edinburgh-London (900 miles), however Paris-Brest-Paris (750 miles) is the hardest yet.
Paris-Brest-Paris is the world's longest standing cycling event, and takes place every four years. I won't be on my own, as starting on Sunday 18th August over 6,000 cyclists from around the world try to complete the route in 90 hours. I will need to ride all day and much of the night to complete the course - obviously it all depends on how fast I can pedal! The distance is roughly the same as Dover to John O’Groats, so 90 hours really is a challenge. If you like the idea of this ride, then your next opportunity is in 2023.
I have been training hard for this event, and had to complete various rides to qualify for a place, if you would like to see where I am try this for Team Dulwich Paragon:
