Story
Up until 2021, period products were classed as 'non-essential/luxury' items in the UK. Later that year came a cost of living crisis. The 5% 'tampon tax' may have been abolished, but many now have to prioritise paying the bills over essential period products; food over freedom.
Not having access to period products is dangerous. Everyday, people with periods miss out on work, education, and resort to unhygienic methods of menstrual management due to financial reasons, irregular cycles, or (sadly) embarrassment.
In 2027, I'll be running the 10th anniversary edition of the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Girl Pack, a volunteer-led charity providing emergency period packs and essential menstrual products to schools and communities across Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire.
Girl Pack is accessible to all - from young girls experiencing their first period to people facing menopause-related irregularities. The charity also proudly supports trans men and non-binary people who menstruate. (woohoo! <3)
We'd all be nothing without periods, so let's stop the stigma. Every penny is greatly appreciated. x
