We help struggling UK families to get a much needed short break or day out

Charity Registration No. 800262

Story

I have decided to run this years' London Marathon with a difference - I am attempting to break a World Record!! My young man Coby inspires me every day of my life, he is the reason I can keep on going every day through the various difficulties that everyday life throws at us all.

How the idea started:-

Coby has always enjoyed my cooking and said how I am the "Worlds best Chef"!... This I most certainly am not, but after some research, I have decided to train for, and to attempt to break the current World Record for the worlds Fastest Chef!! To do so I must run in a full chefs outfit, carrying pots and pans over a weight of 3lbs for the entire 26.2 miles!  This requires an awful lot of extra training, mental toughness, heart and desire - all of which I get from Coby.

Coby inspires me every day, and to be able to run for a charity that is close to my heart, will make all of the difference.  I really do hope that you can all dig deep so that I can achieve the minimum fundraising amount needed!

If you see a madman running through the streets of Norwich/Plumstead/Wroxham, quite possibly in a Chefs outfit or pushing a large running pram, that's me, so feel free to give us a beep of your horn and a wave - together we can achieve anything :-)

Family Holiday Association

I am running for the Family Holiday Association.  I have taken an exert from their website and pasted it below. In a nutshell, being a single parent, I understand just what any type of 'short break' or 'holiday' actually means to single parents or families who sometimes, just require a distraction from the norm, in order to regroup and realise just what is important in life.

The charity was founded on the belief that holidays are a lifeline, not a luxury, and this is a key principle that survives to this day. The majority of families we help have never before been on a family holiday. The evidence shows that spending time together away from their daily struggles can be life-changing for the families we work with.

The majority of breaks we provide involve short trips to the British seaside. We also enable families to go on day trips – such as a simple day out at the seaside or local tourist attraction or museum – and occasionally other types of break, such as group trips. We do not offer trips abroad.

The Family Holiday Association receives no government funding, so we are wholly reliant on the generosity of our donors, fundraisers and other supporters.
