Most of you will be aware that I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July 2021. This came completely out of the blue and was a shock to myself, my family and friends.
My cancer was detected early, so I was very lucky. The treatment and care I received was faultless and life saving.
One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, many are not as lucky as I have been. I lead a pretty normal life since the prostatectomy. Yes, there are some yuck after effects but they are way better than the alternative.
It’s scary wondering what will happen if your cancer has spread. It affects you and your family and the worry is bloody unpleasant.
Men, get tested. Let’s stop being to “manly” and hiding our head in the sand. I’m proof that early diagnosis and excellent treatment works. I feel a sense of guilt when i hear of other men dying from prostate cancer. Once again, I have been very lucky.
I haven’t walked 26 miles before so this is a hell of a challenge but I’m training hard for it because it’s a cause worth the effort.
Please donate so that Prostate Cancer UK can help get a reliable test for early detection of prostate cancer so families don’t have to go through the worry that my family did last year.
