Story
Sadly Alan passed away on September 22nd after a long hard fought battle with this cruel and brutal disease.
Throughout his illness the help and care he received was unparalleled. He was extremely touched and grateful to be allowed some hope for the future. Unfortunately in Alan's case this was not to be.
However, hopefully he can still raise funds to help those who helped him help others.

Hi,
For nearly 12 months now I have been battling metastatic melanoma, and the implications that go with this dreadful disease.
I am under the care of the amazing team in the Oncology Department at Singleton Hospital, Swansea.
People look at me as if I'm stupid when I say I have been lucky, but I genuinely believe I have; recent developments in melanoma treatment mean I have chances now, that I wouldn't have had if my cancer had progressed a few years ago. The brilliant team at Singleton are more or less on my doorstep.....
The last year has been a living hell, a roller coaster we wish every day we can get off........
I went on a trial of a new immunotherapy drug that whilst working for some didn't work for me, this was followed by another drug still in its infancy that worked for 5 months before the cancer learnt to beat it.
Next week I start my third drug .... Another option, another chance. Another battle you could argue, in a war I am determined to win!
I said all along I want to do something to help those who've helped me. I'm not up to running marathons or jumping out of planes - I will be next year!
I'm asking you to donate to the Golau Cancer Foundation, which is the official charity of the South West Wales Cancer Centre based at Singleton Hospital in Swansea. By contributing we are giving something back locally to those helping battle cancer in South West Wales, not just now but in the future.
One day, it may not be in my lifetime, cancer WILL be beaten.
The evolution of specialist drugs will enable cancer to be treated with easily accessible medication, in the same way millions of people today deal with other illnesses.
This will come about more quickly, with increased research and funding.
