Story
Thank you for finding the time to visit this page and to support the work of Motivation.
For reasons I cannot begin to explain I and two other middle-aged men who should know better are taking part in a 6 day / 240km endurance race across the Sahara Desert in Morocco in March 2007. During this time we each have to carry all food, cooking equipment, survival equipment, etc over ground ranging from sand dunes to uneven rocky ground in temperatures upto 120°F. We have survived training (relatively) injury free but now need to see what the desert conditions add! We are all covering all of the costs of entering the event so all funds we raise will go directly to the charity.
His left eye fused shut by sand, sweat and tears, and his right eye barely functional behind his sand-shielding sunglasses, Doug Gallaher was suddenly without tracks to follow as darkness fell on the Sahara during the 52 mile stage in the fourth day of the Marathon des Sables. "The wind was howling, I could barely see anything, and I was all alone surrounded by 300-foot-high dunes. Up to that point the race had been ... I wouldn't say a fun thing, but a challenging thing. Suddenly it became a serious thing that could have much bigger consequences than I had imagined. That's when I had my little insanity breakdown."

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Motivation Charitable Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
