In 2020 my father passed away to Cancer. I was heartbroken at the loss, but I decided to embark on a challenge to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. That challenge raised over £12,000, however it hugely delayed my grief and in the months since I have struggled to deal with his passing.
I utilised resources, researched mental health, and actually learnt about myself to try and improve my mental health. I will always miss Dad, however thanks to the help I received and discussions I had with friends, I am now in a place where I can deal with my feelings. I'd be lying if I said everything is fine everyday because it's not but it's so important we continue to open up and share our feelings and emotions with others because it's certainly helped me a huge amount.
I guess I should use this moment to thank all my friends and family for allowing me to bare all. There have been some tough days and may tears shed on shoulders but without their support my mental health wouldn't be where it is today. Love you all.
This new challenge (10 marathons in 10 days) was to not only test me physically but to also test me mentally. I know it's going to be a huge struggle but it's time to test everything I have! I will be sharing the highs and lows of the challenge.
