Etape de Yorkshire · 4 July 2015

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

On July 4th I'm once again riding the 125 mile/200km "Etape de Yorkshire" cycle sportive. This follows the route taken by Stage 1 of the Tour de France last year, adding on an extra bit beyond Harrogate to both start and finish at Harewood House. This year I'm riding for Will Clark, brother of my work colleague and friend Hannah, who sustained a spinal injury that left him quadriplegic in a cycling accident. Without Aspire's help, Will and his family would have to fund all of his care and equipment themselves. Please give whatever you feel able to to support this charity. And should you feel like giving me a cheer, I'll keep you updated on my start time from Harewood House and estimated times en route through scenic spots such as Hawes, Reeth and Harrogate!
