Story
Welcome to my story:
In June of 2021, myself and my two brothers, Kieran and Rohan lost our mum to cancer at the age of 42.
Now let me take you back! Mum raised 3 young boys from early 2000s single handedly. She raised us through what can only be described as a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but no matter what she faced she always did it with a smile on her face.
In January 2021 she was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer which was quickly deemed terminal and was given a short term prognoses of 6 months. Also known as pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs), is a rare type of cancer that forms in the hormone-producing cells of the pancreas. These tumors can be functional, producing hormones that cause specific symptoms, or non-functional, not causing noticeable symptoms until they grow larger.
Mum was a selfless woman who gave everything to always help other people and would always put others first, this is displayed through a variety of things, but specifically:
- Her love for her profession of an occupational therapist.
- Her drive to support her family and friends.
- Making sacrifices to provide the best possible upbringing for her children.
- Her love and affection for frank! 🐶
Thanks for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe, JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. If anyone can relate or is touched by my story I would very grateful if you could share to your friends and family and encourage them to donate if they can afford too! Even a free share on social media goes a long way!
Thanks for taking the time to read my journey and hopefully you’ll find pleasure in following my training a progress to complete the 2024 London Marathon!
