Aimee McMullan is raising money for The Dyslexia Association

Aimee's Hair Cut! · 22 May 2021

The Dyslexia Association provides support and services for dyslexic children and adults of all ages, also for their parents/families, educators, employers and the wider community. Their aim is to improve the lives and expectations of dyslexic people, helping them to reach their full potential.

Story

I have decided to raise money for the Dyslexia Association as I have been quite recently been diagnosed as Dyslexic.   For a number of years I have struggled with reading and understanding instructions and knew something was not quite right. Last year I  completed the dyslexia assessment and it identified that I needed special lenses in my glasses to be able to read properly.  I also have to have my school work on coloured paper and printed in a larger font. I really wanted to raise some awareness so that others feel like its ok to speak up and ask for help regardless of their age.  Since my diagnoses I feel much more confident and my teachers have been supportive in getting me through my exams.  Although I was 16 when I was diagnosed I would encourage anyone who believes they need support to speak up and get the help they need.  It is the best thing I did!

On the 10th July 2021, I will also be chopping off 10 to 12 inches of my hair for the Little Princess Trust so that I can help give hope to young people with cancer.

Any donation that you can afford would be greatly appreciated.
