In April I will be walking a marathon in a month raising money for Group B Strep Support a charity very close to our hearts.

Group B Strep Support (GBSS) is the world’s leading charity working to stop group B Strep infection in babies. They educate the public, doctors and midwives about group B Strep and provide information and support to affected families.

Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies, and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months.

Most of these infections are preventable.

In 2018 when Jake was 15 days old, he became critically ill before being diagnosed with late onset group B Strep Meningitis and Sepsis. It was the most traumatic experience of our lives seeing our tiny baby so ill. He was in intensive care for 4 days in total before transferring to our local hospital to continue his care. We will be forever grateful to the nurses and doctors who helped save his life and the ongoing support from the GBS charity.
