Airliners Live 2022 Annual Charity Fundraiser

As a channel and a community, the Airliners Live Annual Charity Fundraisers have always been our most proud achievement in bringing together a huge community of friends and enthusiasts, to help better the lives of those in need. This year's fundraiser will raise money for The Christie and is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend, Peter Hampson.

Peter was a true gentleman and a genuine friend and supporter of Airliners Live. With his unwavering support, guidance, and generosity, he was instrumental in the growth of the channel. We are eternally grateful to have had such a good friend and mentor and we will miss him dearly.

Peter's passion for aviation began in the 1960s and continued to grow. At the age of 16, he started working at Manchester Airport as an admin assistant, before moving onto bigger and better things and finally becoming General Manager of the Airfield, and then later going on to form his own Aviation Consultancy Firm - Airport Solutions in 2005.

Peter was also the founder of The Aviation Society (TAS) and was at the forefront in securing many improvements at the airport, including the development of the current Aviation Viewing Park (now the Runway Visitor Park). His proudest feat was the acquisition of the flagship British Airways Concorde 'G-BOAC', which now takes pride of place at the RVP.

Peter sadly passed away on Sunday 22nd May 2022 after a long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. The heroic fight he put up against the disease was a testament to his optimism and fighting spirit.
Peter was cared for and supported by the Christie, and his daughter, Sophie, has already raised over £5,000.

To quote Sophie's fundraiser:

"We are hoping to raise lots of money for The Christie charity to help with all the amazing work they do. The Christie charity focuses on 4 main areas:

• Care and treatment
• Research
• Education
• Extra patient services

We are hoping to initially raise £4,000 over the next year for Christies in memory of my Dad. Not only will this money help The Christies to continue to do amazing things, it will also enable us to have a coin token with my Dad’s name on the ‘coin wall’ in Christies.

Long-term, over the coming years, we hope to raise £15,000 between donations and events to enable us to have a bronze leaf with my Dad’s name printed on the ‘Tree of hope’ in Christies. Being able to raise that amount of money to help The Christies cause would be incredible"

Every day, The Christie continues to help thousands of people affected by cancer. With the help of the Airliners Live community, we want to support Sophie in reaching her goal. The total amount we raise will therefore be added to the funds already raised, in the hope of reaching £15,000 - and one day seeing Peter's name on the Tree of Hope. We can think of nothing more fitting for such a remarkable man.

The money raised is going directly to support vital research into cancer prevention which will affect many lives. The money will fund not only research but support and care for anyone who requires it at the Christie Hospital. We hope that the money our community raises will go on to help many others in the future just as the Christie has supported many close friends and valued community members in the past.

The Live Show

The Airliners Live Annual 2022 Charity Live Show will take place on Sunday 4th September from 10am on the Airliners Live YouTube channel. During the show we will be doing the majority of the fundraising, reading out your donations live, and using our platform to give the fundraiser a real push.

The amazing Airliners Live community are extremely generous, and we know you can help us towards this goal. We can't wait to see you there!

If you can't join in on the day, the fundraiser will be open one week before the live show and will end on 11th September. Any donations made outside of the live show will still be entered into the prize draw.

Prize Draw

All donations of £10 and over will automatically enter you into the PRIZE DRAW. And donations of £25 and over will enter you into an ELITE prize bracket.

The £10 prize draw will consist of many prizes, including prints, vouchers, models and gift experiences, with the £25 and over prize draw having more elite prizes.

You can donate as much as you like, however each person will only have one entry max into each draw. Please make sure you do not split your donations in order to make the minimum for the prize draw (i.e., £5 and then another £5). And please make sure to include an identifying name such as your full name or username. Unfortunately, we will not be able to enter anonymous donations into the prize draw.

Please select "Gift Aid" if you have the option, as it adds an extra 25% on top of your donation.

The prize draw will take place during an extra live stream on Wednesday 14th September. You will have a week to claim your prize following the prize draw, and if no contact is made, we may re-draw your prize.
