Story
Join Step Through September and take 10,000 steps every day in September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Together, lets walk towards a world where no child dies of a curable disease.
Over 400,000 children develop cancer worldwide each year. The majority of these children live in low-income countries where their chance of survival is as low as 10%. These are devastating statistics when you consider that survival rates are over 80% for children in high-income countries like the UK and USA.
It’s possible to save the lives of children with easily treatable cancers using relatively simple and inexpensive drugs and procedures.
- £10 could provide effective pain relief for four children for a week in Malawi.
- £50 could pay for a round of life-saving chemotherapy for a child with cancer in Ghana.
- £130 could pay for a vital MRI scan for a child with cancer in Nepal.
With your support, there will be an increase in the number of children diagnosed with cancer in low-income countries, improved quality of care received and financial and emotional support provided for families.
The vision for the charity is a world where every child with cancer has equal access to the best treatment and care.
