Myeloma UK London Paris Ride 2022 · 15 September 2022 to 19 September 2022 ·

Myeloma patients, family, friends, healthcare professionals and supporters cycle 500km from London to Paris over four days to raise crucial funds for myeloma research.

Story

Having got my first road bike just 18 months ago, and still yet to cycle long rides over successive days, I'm ambitiously taking on the challenge to cycle 500km over 4 days from London to Paris in mid-September.

I've taken my mum's place with just a month to prepare for the ride, and hoping I can raise as much money as possible for a very important cause to me + my family. My mum was diagnosed with Myeloma in 2017, which led to us finding Myeloma UK online in the need for support for a blood cancer which we'd never heard of. Myeloma research is critically important because myeloma is a complex cancer with no known cure. It's also relapsing and remitting which means many patients are in desperate need of that next treatment.

Myeloma UK provides support and funds research into myeloma- including the all-important early diagnosis work that has just been launched. Like all charities, it has been difficult to fundraise during the pandemic, but just as many people have suffered this cancer and need support, and I have personally experienced what a difference this can make to patients as well as their family + friends.

I'd appreciate anything you can give + I'm sure it will massively motivate me to get back on the bike each day! Along with my dad, who's going to be taking part for the third time, we're looking to raise £3,000 between us. If we do that, we'll (mostly him) have raised over £10,000 over the three years (including gift aid), which would just be absolutely amazing. Thank you so so much!
