London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·
Last year I was injured at work for doing nothing more or less than what is expected of me in my line of work.
May last year my career and my knee hasn’t been the same. After much pain, sleepless nights and not being able to walk properly, affecting my other leg. Many physio sessions and painful exercises resulting in a diagnosis of a torn miniscus In my knee, where strengthening can only delay an impending surgery to rectify the damage caused.
I stayed for 2 weeks at Flint House for rehabilitation on my knee, it was a brilliant experience and fantastic facility’s, allowing for a fully focused plan and 1-1 physio sessions with structured and developing classes to assist with balance and strengthening.
My recovery is still ongoing, with changes to my role at work as well as still managing on a daily basis the pain in my knee. Many who know me should be aware that I was a very keen runner before the injury, running half marathons for fun. Since the injury I have ran a total of 0 miles in the last year, so this is a challenge I’m setting myself, it may be pushing it to far, but I need something to work towards in my recovery and raising money for a charity that has directly helped me, makes it a challenge accepted.
Flint House is a charity, entirely funded by donations from those in the police service and their families. It is with these generous donations that we help and heal 30,000 serving and retired police officers each year, providing physical rehabilitation as well as mental health support.
