Arts Emergency is an award-winning charity founded in 2013. They provide expert mentors, guidance and opportunities to support marginalised young people into higher education and creative careers. Low income does not mean low imagination, low ambition, or low intelligence!

Story

Hello you lovely generous person you!

Thanks so much for visiting my page and if you've sponsored me in the past, 'Hello again!', I bet you thought you got rid of me.

So the triathlon is something I've always thought looked quite easy actually. I like swimming. I like swimming outdoors (mostly on holiday in the nice warm Mediterranean...mmm). TICK. I like cycling. I cycle to work and around the city all the time. TICK. I like running (well, when I can be arsed). I ran a half marathon last year, don'tcha know. TICK! DONE!...What? What's that? I have to do them all together? How far?!? Who designed this race?! This isn't even the longest one?!!! Bugger!!!

Well, if I'm going to do this totally crazy exercise-until-you-puke race event thingy, I might as well do it for a good cause. Step forward, Arts Emergency, a charity set up by Neil Griffiths (one of the top 50 fundraisers in the country!) and Josie Long (only my all-time favourite comedian) to encourage and mentor young people to cultivate a career in the arts. Conceived as a response to sky-rocketing tuition fees and the general commodification of degrees in a society that no longer values education for educations sake, Arts Emergency aims to create an Alternative Old Boys Network as a support system for less privileged students.

Please give as much as you can to this awesome charity and tell your friends about it. If you work in the arts, you can also support them by signing up as a mentor or network contact here http://www.arts-emergency.org/join-us/
