Dementia is a cruel disease that destroys lives and I would love to be able to contribute towards its demise. My Grandma was as fit as a fiddle, walked everywhere, talking to everyone at every opportunity. We watched on as a family unknowingly at first, as her mind deteriorated.
Gradually, we became unrecognisable to her and she became unrecognisable to us. She was no longer the confident ,articulate, loving grandma we had grown up around. She passed away much sooner than she should have and will never be forgotten.
One in 14 people over the age of 65 have dementia, and the condition affects 1 in 6 people over 80.
People are living longer which means there's a greater chance someone you know will suffer with dementia.
Let’s lower those odds!
