Thank you to everyone who has donated on Ajs just giving and text giving over the past few days and all the lovely messages that have also been left from AJs mum xx
He is in a lot of discomfort everyday due to tightness in his muscles and as he is growing, AJ’s mobility is deteriorating.
We have found an operation in America called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. This involves the cutting of nerves in the spine which will release the spasticity (tension) in AJ’s muscles. This will eradicate all pain caused by the CP and allow him to jump, hop, skip, and join in with his older brother’s playing football. This is AJ’s dreams come true. He loves sports but feels different to other children when he joins in. He is awkward in his movements and is now realising he 'stands out'. His surgery is booked for Feb 2012.
National charity, Caudwell Children, is supporting AJ and other children like him by raising money to fund ground breaking treatments and physiotherapy which can help children with Cerebral Palsy walk independently for the first time.
As a mother I would live and die for my son. He is my entire world so I am now on a mission to get him this life changing surgery. The drawback? It is going to have total costs of up to £50,000. This covers the cost of the surgery the flights and accommodation for one month. Upon our return we will have to get a private physiotherapist as the NHS will not give AJ the hours he needs. I am in the process of setting up sponsored events/charity evenings and have everything crossed that I can make this target.
Please help me to help my son. I feel bad that I am begging but please remember, if this was your Childs future, if you could do something to help them be free from pain, you would do all you could too.
If there is anything at all you Donate we would be forever grateful. I fear for Aj, I fear that he will lose the ability to walk we have been told without this Aj will spend his adult life in a wheelchair. More than anything he just wants to fit into society.
