Great Wall of China Trek · 17 April 2021
*Update July 2021*
Due to COVID restrictions in China we have made the decision to complete another challenge as we believe that it could potentially be 2022/2023 before being allowed into China.
*New Challenge*
Dorset Jurassic Coast 3 Marathon Challenge.
It requires us to walk/jog a marathon a day for 3 consecutive days. The challenge is Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th July 2021. We will walk (and jog when we can) 26 miles each day totalling 78 miles!! We will be fitted with a GPS tracker and self-navigating our way along the coast to various check points along the way (if we don't pass through every check point, it will not log our completion of the challenge.)
We hope you understand why we came to this decision to change our event and I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far, as this is an incredible amount.
Thank you once again. :)
*Updated March 2021*
We are still monitoring the updates in relation to COVID from the government but as soon as it is safe to travel to China we will be booking the dates to the complete the challenge.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far. We are currently on £3,682
*Updated Feb 2021*
In 2021 (month to be confirmed due to covid) we will be trekking the Great Wall of China for 5 days in order to raise money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support. We were originally doing it as a personal challenge and to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity. However since then, Kristina’s grandfather Malcolm Brook had sadly passed away due to cancer and will now be doing the Trek in his memory.
A little bit about Macmillan:
They provide health care, information and financial support to those affected by cancer. Over 360,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer each year and as you can imagine, this is a tough time for any person affected.
Macmillan are entirely public funded and need our help more than ever.
It has been a tough year for us all and we want to give something back so we would really appreciate any donations you can give no matter how big or small in order to help us reach our target.
* We are funding our own trip and 100% of donations will be going to MacMillan *
Thank you
Akeem & Kristina xx
*Update*
We are over the moon to announce that we have exceded our target with the amazing generosity from everyone who has donated and a special and huge thank you to the Ashford Rotary club who have donated a spectacular £2543.70 !!! We cannot thank you enough. We welcome and are so grateful for any more donations for what is an extremely worthy cause.
The following message is from the Ashford Rotary club:
‘This donation comes from members of the Rotary Club of Ashford to commemorate the life of Dr Malcom Brook, Kristina’s grandfather. Malcolm was a senior member of the Club, Past President and recipient of Rotary’s highest award, a Paul Harris Fellowship. He was in the forefront of many local and international charity projects, notably in South Africa. A donation to such an excellent charity as Macmillan Cancer Support is a fitting tribute.’
Thank you all again for your generosity
