The British Horse Society (BHS) aim to protect and promote the interests of all horses and those who care about them. Our core foundations – education, welfare, access and safety – are more important than ever as they demonstrably make a difference to horses’ lives.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, it means a lot to me.

Horses have been a part of my life since childhood, learning to ride at a  riding school in London and going on to train for BHS exams.  I've been lucky enough to have my own yard, event and bring on lots of different horses and ponies over the last 30 years...  However, I have never ridden in a race!

3 years ago I had both of my hips replaced and thought I would probably never ride a horse again, as before the operations riding was too painful, in fact just standing up was a chore!    After 6 months of re-hab I got back on a steady eddy, it was an emotional moment.  I have spent the last 3 years being mindful of what I can and can't do with the bionic hips... and the mental journey I have been on has been more of an uphill one compared to going under the knife.  I am riding in this race as I want to challenge myself and also give other people encouragement that after operations you can get fit and get on again.
