Story

Hello and thank you for visiting Herbie’s Just Giving page and I hope you will support Team Herbie with our challenge.

Our aim is to raise a minimum of £53,000 for Claire House Children’s Hospice- Liverpool.

In May 2012, I will be driving my 1963 Porsche engined Vw Herbie from Liverpool to Monaco, taking in the original route from the film ‘Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo’. There are many stop offs en-route, including London & Paris. On arrival in Monaco, Herbie aims to drive a lap of the Grand Prix Circuit, and the whole challenge is being filmed for a documentary. In the year leading up to the main event, Herbie will be making appearances at various children’s schools, supporters outlets and organised fund raising events.

I decided that Claire House was the appropriate Charity to raise money for as Herbie is loved by children all over the world.

Herbie underwent a full restoration in Ohio, USA by the wonderfully talented Dan Miller.  A restorer of some repute, Dan has worked on many of the film Herbie’s.  My Herbie has been transformed and modelled on the very desirable Porsche engined Herbie, used in the film ‘The Love Bug’. After the last two years of hard work, Herbie will be shipped over to the UK in July 2011 to start his publicity campaign at The Woodvale Car Show and Oulton Park.  If you can make to either event, please come and say hello.

Check out the Herbie’s Going Back to Monte Carlo Facebook page and website of the same name for more details of our challenge, the route, the rebuild pictures, Dan Miller and any current  updates.

Thank you very much for your support and please tell all of your friends.

Kindest regards,

Al Clinton.
