Story
Saira Bibi of Basti Sargani, Pakistan was crippled with polio at a very young age.
Saira expressed that when she first attended Al-Qaim school she felt different from other students in her class but through will power did not let this difference hamper her studies.
She says “Life became difficult when my polio became severe, carrying books was a chore, walking to school became impossible, and my brother was too embarrassed to carry me to school.” However, with physiotherapy she was able to resume going to school, much to her delight.
Saira’s mother Naseem Bibi works as a maid to ensure that Saira gets her education & physiotherapy. She is the sole earner in the family, which includes 4 sisters 4 brothers.
Saira’s father is too old and sick to work; his only wish was that Saira should do her matriculation (GCSE’s) at least so that she is not a burden on others.
If you could help children like Saira get the education they deserve please make a donation today.
The Rehana Foundation (Charity Number RP/6682/5/113945) and IUS are continuing to support the people of District Layyah through the Al-Qaim School Project. The children of Basti Sarghani (rural village within in District Layyah) lack the funds and means to commute to established government and private schools in the region. At present there is a makeshift building, known as the Al-Qaim school providing education for around 120 children.
However, it lacks a safe infrastructure and basic facilities such as lighting, electricity, desks or chairs.
If you donate to this cause you will help provide a proper school building, that will be eligible for long term funding from the Pakistan Education Foundation (partnered with the World Bank) and make this a sustainable project.
Architects have been consulted and a 2 storey school building drawn up with:
- 6 classrooms
- Science and Computer Labs
- Teachers quarters
- Male and female bathroooms
These children deserve an education; it's one of their basic rights.
Please donate generously.
The rewards for supporting this project will perpetuate beyond our lifetime; inshallah.
