Alan's Charity Run for Callum Doe to raise money for EACH - 10th October.

On the 10th October 2020 I will be attempting to run the Angles Way to raise money for East Anglia Children's Hospices
The Angles way is a 77 mile or 124km footpath which starts in Great Yarmouth, heads south towards Lowestoft, and ends at Knettishall Heath, taking in Bungay, Beccles and Diss along the way.
Unless injury or lightening strikes I plan to complete the route in one go with minimal stopping. Its roughly 3 marathons in a row over mostly rough ground and I am fairly certain I will have to run through the wall several times before the day is over. However and the best part is, you too can be a part of this. To make it happen all you need to do is a few short clicks, punch in a few numbers and I will do the running part for us.
I am raising money for this charity because the East Anglian Childrens Hospices were the ones to offer help and support to the family of a good friend and fellow cyclist when their son became ill. I hope that this run will be one of a few events that start a snowball of other local charity fundraisers that will enable EACH to continue to offer support to families in the future.
If while out shopping you have seen someone who is collecting for charity, patted your pocket and realized you had no change and have walked past (I've done that) or not recently made a donation to charity (like me) , or would just like to add some solidarity as a kind of 'go for it Al' gesture, then please go ahead and make a donation on the orange button up there, this a really good time to pitch in and see your money go to a good cause.
If you've got this far then I hope you will continue on to make a donation and on this note I would like to say that of all the unwise things I've done before I never asked you to sponsor me. This is the first. So now's a great time to maybe get the bucket and sponge out and save some money on a car wash, skip a bottle of wine (actually, no don't skip the wine), I don't know maybe not have a take away on Friday and make a donation to EACH. Or maybe have a takeaway AND make a donation. Or Make a donation AND have a takeaway AND a bottle of wine AND look at facebook pictures of my blisters and chaffing and general soreness and joining me in thinking what a silly idea it was :0)
I'm not telling you what to do but £10- £20 isn't that much these days?
If (for some strange reason) you would like to run alongside for a part of the route on the day or mtb then I'll be glad to see you there. Feel free to bring some extra water, muesli bars or even to just ask why I'm running so slowly and look so awful :)
I want to help EACH reach their £64,000 target, which could pay for two full time super star nurses, so I'm taking on the challenge of completing the Angles Way.The nurses at EACH work tirelessly to care for the children and families that need their support, like super star nurses Jenna and Amber.Jenna and Amber are two of our Clinical Nurse Specialists and form part of our Symptom Management Team who are available 24/7 to our families. Amber says...'Children and their families teach us all great lessons, mainly that death is not the opposite to life, but a part of it. Maximising life and treating symptoms, so the child and family can enjoy their time together is the most crucial and special part of my work.
Short of a bad injury I am very determined to get to Knettishall so I'm suggesting that you're sponsoring the attempt rather than the completion. For those of you that know me, if I don't make on the 10th it I'll be back there asap to complete it if not..Thanks for reading this far.
Many thanks
Alan
