Charity Registration No. 209603

Story

RNLI have almost 5000 volunteers, so I am going to cycle 5000 miles, and want to raise £5000.

So far - 75 RNLI stations visited, 2,867km (1,792M) cycled, 29,910m climbed.

See a map of my progress here - cycle4fun.co.uk

It will take me 2-3 years to complete, so I will add trips as I plan them.

The 2020 trips are here:-

  • March 6 - 9, Liverpool to The Lakes
  • March 31 - April 3, North Cornwall
  • April 28 - May 6, East Anglia
  • Sept 4 - 8, Hull to Newcastle

If you are up for a ride, even if it is for just a few miles, let me know and I'll send you more details.

If you want to join me for any of the coastal trips, please contact me - alan.cheesley@gmail.com

In 2016, lifeboat crews launched 8,851 times, rescuing 8,643 and saving 431 lives. And our lifeguards attended 17,414 beach incidents, helping 20,538 people and saving 127 lives.

The RNLI are 95% volunteers who are prepared to risk their lives for complete strangers, whenever they are called to do so.  They keep us safe in our waters.

This is going to be quite a challenge, so hopefully it can encourage and inspire more leisure cyclists to do some if not all of it too.

How your support helps

£17 will buy two red and yellow flags to keep people safe on the beach.

£45 will buy a pair of yellow wellies to keep our lifeboat crew safe and steady.

£198 will buy a helmet to protect our crew from the worst conditions the sea can throw at them.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
