Thanks for visiting Alans Fundraising Page
In the final days of Dads happy life he moved into East Cheshire Hospice. We had spent three uncomfortable days in hospital and Dad smiled with relief as he took in his new surroundings.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were wonderful. The staff, volunteers, and the facilities of the Hospice provided Dad with peace, comfort, security, friendship and care.
Visitors were welcomed at any time, and encouraged to stay for as long as Dad wanted. We also were given access to a connecting room so that we could stay with him.
Typically, on his second day there Dad was already preoccupied about how we could raise some money to support the hospice, to try and repay the kindness which was given freely, and to make sure that others could benefit in the way that we did. He even volunteered David to do a marathon!
It is inconceivable to imagine that final week without the support of East Cheshire Hospice, and we are so thankful to them for everything that they did, as was Dad.
Astonishingly, the hospice gets less than 23% of its annual costs from government and so has to fundraise nearly £6,000 every day just to keep going.
So thanks so much again for visiting the page, and for donating what you can to the Hospice in Alans memory.
