There are as many as four in ten people diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. The sad side is that there are many given a terminally diagnosis. You never think it will happen to your family. There are no age barriers. It does not discrimenate between young and old. A child. A parent. A loved one and friend.
Who doesnt know somebody whos life has been affected by cancer. I can think of several without really trying. Living with cancer is an emotional rollercoaster. Our family recently went through a loss as the result of terminal cancer.
I have pledged my support to Marie Curie Cancer care (www.mariecurie.org.uk) this year. Marie Curie provide a very special service. They provide high quality nursing care and support totally free of charge to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home with their family and loved ones around them. This is a very special service and could not be provided without the wonderful help of volunteers and supporters. Without people like you, Marie Curie would not be able to offer this vital service.
In July this year I am cycling Lands End to John O Groats (LeJog). Thats 1,575km over ten days! This is quite a challenge both physically and mentally and one that I am really looking forward to conquering. I have spent a huge part of my life cycling but my confidence took a shake when I got knocked down cycling to work one morning and I suffered considerable damage to my foot and leg. It took a while but I'm back on the bike and I couldnt think of a better way to raise money for Marie Curie and this is where I need your help!
Please, Please pledge your support and help me raise as much money as I can. Its really easy and safe to do so. Every donation helps Marie Curie continue providing care and support to patients at the end of their lives completely free of charge.
As a thank you for your support, every person who donates will get their name/company logo printed on my jerseys I will be wearing over the ten day cycle.
It doesnt matter where you live or what your age, cancer affects everyone. Thank you most sincerely for your support.
You can follow me on facebook too, and remember tell all your friends and lets help make 2012 a better year for people with cancer.
Thank you.
