An expedition to Everest Base Camp in support of Harmeny Education Trust's Learning for Life Appeal. Helping to change the lives of some of Scotland's most vulnerable children.

Story

Our trek has started - read the updates below for how it is all going! Thank you for all the donations so far. Keep donating and we'll keep trekking!

On 5th April 2019 I am heading up an inspired team consisting of Marc Preston , Bruce Collie and Rick Young. We are trekking to Everest Base Camp to raise funds for Harmeny Education Trust, an amazing charity on the outskirts of Edinburgh who provide residential care and education to some of the most vulnerable children from all over Scotland. Harmeny urgently needs to improve its learning facilities and expand its accommodation units to meet the increasing demand for its services and is seeking to raise £2.4m.

Our self-funded Trek aims to raise as much money as possible to help Harmeny reach their objective.

So please donate all you can to inspire us to battle trekking 6 hours each day for nearly 3 weeks at altitudes up to 18,000ft To Base Camp.

I also have a very personal reason for embarking on this adventure. Early in 2017 my partner Deidre (Dee Dee) Clark and I discussed a trekking holiday in Nepal as Dee was a big fan of mountains. Sadly Dee died very suddenly before the trip could be organised. So for me , this trip is a pilgrimage to honour my memories of a wonderful Lady. R.I.P. Dee.
