Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm doing this because I have got another chance to live my life thanks to the Sussex Beacon. But for me, not as a client, but as a Caseworker for people right across Sussex living with HIV. I have been positive for 17 years and for much of that time I was secretive and isolated about my status. By volunteering and working with the Beacon, I have fully come to terms with my diagnosis and I am now able to work directly with people in similar situations to mine. All thanks to the training and encouragement I received from the Beacon.
We need £2,000,000 a year to keep this incredible facility running. You will never meet a more dedicated and wonderful bunch of people as the staff and volunteers that work there and keep it running. Everyone does what they can to help each other and make sure all of our patients and clients and their visitors get first class treatment.
So, I am happy to make an absolute arse of myself at the Halloween ball, pack bags of fudge or be ridiculed at the staff comedy night or whatever it takes to be part of this unique family.
But this time it's a personal challenge for me.
I'm 63 and a bit nervous of heights. I'm socially anxious as well.
So, i'm gonna walk up the roof of the O2 with a bunch of strangers and down the other side with some new friends and new confidence.
So, please support not me, but the Beacon and pledge as little or as much as you can. Anything is gratefully received. I'm paying the fee to do this myself, so every penny (less the JustGiving cut) will go straight to the Beacon and help me to support my amazing clients.
