Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Following my diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in April, Dawn and myself have decided to take a positive and proactive approach to help come to terms with this. As part of our pro-activity we are going to walk from Bowness on Solway in the North West, 86 miles along Hadrian's Wall path back to Alan's birth place Wallsend in the North East, over 5 days (4 nights) and we would like to raise as much awareness and money for both our local hospice, St Mary's Hospice and Dawn's page is raising money for St Mary's Hospice.
My page is raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) who with vital funding, help to support people and their families who are affected by MND and help fund research and clinical trials in the hope that one day a cure of this terminal disease will be found. £10 raised can provide an information pack for someone newly diagnosed with MND, £30 can fund an adapted cutlery set allowing someone with MND to retain their independence for longer, £100 can run a support and information line for 1 hour and it takes £1500 to fit a straight stair lift so that someone with MND can sleep upstairs at night and £4000 can allow a person to take part in a clinical trial for 1 year.
