Story
During the first lockdown we watched Sir Captain Tom raise over £30million for the NHS. We were inspired by this and decided to try and make a difference during our third lockdown. We have decided that every day in January (starting on the 6th of Jan after lockdown started) we will walk 5km no matter what the weather is like! So far we have walked in snow, hail, rain, fog and the occasional bit of sunshine!
We want to raise as much money as possible for the Motor Neurone Disease Association as we have seen Rob Burrows story and how poorly he has become and we want to help . Our family is similar to Robs with our Mum and Dad and three children so we can only imagine what a worrying time it must be for Robs children so we wanted to raise money to help try and get rid of this awful disease so others don’t have to suffer.
Our Dad used to play rugby league like Rob Burrows and he has done charity events to raise money for rugby associated charities before so we decided it was our turn to help this year!
We are very excited to complete our challenge and will be taking pictures and making videos along the walks (which we will ask Mum to post if she figures out how to do it!). We will also be walking with our baby brother and our Mum or Dad.
We want to raise as much money as possible so we can make a big difference to get rid of MND or at least make it easier for those living with this terrible disease. We have set our target at £1,000.00 and we would be extremely grateful if you could support us in this challenge by donating, if everyone was able to give just a little amount that they could spare then added together this will help us reach our target.
Thank you for reading our story and hopefully you will be able to donate. Wish us luck with our challenge! 5km everyday is a long way for us but we are set on doing it as we want to use the time we have in this lockdown in a positive way that will make life better for others.
Thank you from Lochlan and Alana xx 😊
