Story
In a rash moment of bravado with the Editor of the Argus, I agreed to do this year’s Brighton to Paris Bike Ride in aid of The Argus Appeal. Unfortunately, there were witnesses so, despite a period of quiet reflection the next day, it was too late to change my mind.
Age is wonderful thing. Whereas you can remain active, and it becomes more important by the day to do so, general wear and tear determines what is possible. Rugby has degenerated to golf, running has now become cycling. This was under the misapprehension that it would be easier on the fragile body. Training for a charity ride seemed an obvious incentive. I now realise the impact is no less, it just affects a different part of ones anatomy. Will I ever be the same again?
Anyway, it is all for a very good cause and I hope to raise a lot of money for The Argus Appeal. The Appeal raises thousands of pounds every year for those in our community, and your support will make a real difference.
I am therefore asking you to support me by pledging to sponsor my ride. Details of how to do that can be found on this page. I will be very pleased to accept your sponsorship, no matter how small. All the money raised will go to a good cause.
I would like to thank Sydney Street Bikes, who have generously supported me in my challenge.
Donating through this site is simple, quick and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. The Argus Appeal will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at not cost to you. So please be a generous as you feel able to be.
