27/4/09.....A huge thanks from "The Team" and myself for all your best wishes and kind support to this Justgiving Website, it was a great incentive and really helped get me around the course. I was looking for a quicker finishing time but 4hrs 47mins was good enough to get in the top half of over 35000 finishers. It was pretty warm, not overcast as forecast, the crowds were absolutely brilliant in their support too. I'm pleased to say I never saw "The Wall" but I did see Nell McAndrew!! The last mile was the longest ever but amazing to turn the corner and see Buckingham Palace & The Mall........Wow!! Feeling on top of the World now except that legs hurt and I'm not doing stairs very well at the moment but It's great to get back to the red wine. Thanks again...........you are all brilliant. ps.....Yes I will do it again.
24/4/09....2 Days to go. Off the couch now and wide awake. 0747hrs train to London tomorrow with my "Minders" (I could get lost otherwise) for final registration ready then for 0945hrs start on Sunday. Look out the the old man on the left, yes I will be waving for Plymouth. Fantastic response so far, just over £363 sponsorship with more promised next week. Thank you everyone. Will update website on return.
20/4/09.....6 days to go, and he hasn't got off the couch yet, will he do it????
27/3/09......Hi there and thanks so much for visiting my fundraising page for the 2009 London Marathon. Due to injury I was unable to start last year's race but here we are with just a few days to go before Sunday 26th April, and (touching wood) all is well. This will be my first Full Marathon, 26 miles around London. Training began in December and my Doctor will be delighted to know that I have lost a stone in weight and I haven't been this skinny since I got married
Those of you who have kindly sponsored me in previous half marathon events will recall that my preferred charity is St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth who do such wonderful work providing quality respite care and care for the terminally ill. Most of us have at some time been touched by the help they have given to a loved one so please let's do what we can to help.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Luke's will get your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please sponsor me now, then sit back in the comfort of your armchair on the 26th April and shout at the grey haired old Geezer wearing a black vest and Running Number 19452...............Thank you all, watch this space and I'll keep you updated before and after the event.
