The Stroke Association - The Thames Bridges Bike Ride · 11 May 2008 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

My daughter Marlene and I are raising money for The Stroke Association by taking part in The Thames Bridges Bike Ride on 11th May, 2008. This 33-mile ride is from Tower Bridge to Hampton Court and crosses 14 bridges.

Marlene has done a fair bit of cycling in her short life and completed the London Freewheel last year, but this will be by far her longest ride ever! If you'd like to sponsor her (or even me), then please read on...

Stroke is the third most common cause of death in the UK. It is also a leading cause of severe adult disability. More than 250,000 people in the UK live with disabilities caused by a stroke.

The Stroke Association's main focus is to prevent stroke and to give support to people who have had a stroke and their families through our information and rehabilitation and support services.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Stroke Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support
