Coast to Coast In A Day · 24 June 2017
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, even just clicking on the link and getting to here means a lot!
So for some daft reason my brothers and I have decided to put our backsides through 150-miles-of-continuous-and-rentless-never-ending-pain - all in the cheerful spirit of charity! My sarcastic enthusiasm has nothing to do with the fact that my loving brother decided to register me for the event without my knowledge... I'm just kidding, it's going to be a difficult challenge but I'm sure it'll be a great thing to brag about to the grandchildren!
For those of you who know me quite well, you'll be well aware of my quite extensive run-ins with cancer in the family. Unfortunately my grandfather passed from prostate cancer, and starting about 10 years ago my fantastic siblings have beaten 4 bouts of various forms, including recurrent brain tumours.
Understandably being a family with a bizarre attraction to torturing our poor bottoms through cycling, we thought this would be a great opportunity to spend some precious time together and help raise some money for the organisation that has helped our family so dearly, Cancer Research UK.
What? 150 mile Coast to Coast ride in a day. Looking at times of last year's participants, this can range anywhere between a mere 9 and 18 hours (we're hoping to be somewhere in between!).
Where? We'll be starting on the west coast of England in Seascale, riding through the Pennines and across to our direly distant destination of Whitby on the east coast. This is by no means a flat ride!
When? 24th June 2017, early morning set off.
Why? I'm asking myself this daily.
Unfortunately cancer is one of those things which affects more people than we may realise, and the amazing work of organisations such as Cancer Research UK means that we are always moving forward with the hope of beating cancer. For every £1 donated, 80p is dedicated to research so no matter how much you donate it all helps.
Thank you again on behalf of all the Al-Ausi boys (Wolfpack).
