Story
Event takes place on June 15, 2019
Living in a sheltered society, we do not often have to truly give back and do something for the global community. As we are so distanced from pain and suffering, it is easy to get absorbed into a fake reality.
With this Everesting Event, I hope to show that we too are willing and capable of suffering for a greater good. With the greater good being in this case raising funds for The Glacier Trust, a UK based charity that works in partnership with Nepali NGOs and Academia to enable climate change adaptation in Nepal.
TGT works with remote communities in the Himalayas to improve the livelihood chances of subsistence farmers who are already affected by climate change. TGT also works in partnership with UK and Nepali universities to enable young adults to study and train in remote areas, this up skills the next generation of Nepali glaciologists and climate change adaptation professionals.
This is the inspiration behind the idea of doing 15 laps of a mountain pass, what I hope to complete in around 22 hours. With support from the Lyceum Alpinum staff and students, who will also be joining me for a couple laps here and there.
This is a great challenge for anyone who wants to push themselves for a greater good, you can ask family and friends to sponsor you a certain sum per laps completed (The Albulapass is 9.08km with 610m of elevation gain, which is doable for most people in about 1 hour 30 min). You can do as many or little laps as you want, any support will be appreciated! For those who are unable to join me on this challenge but still want to show your support, can still do so by donating.
I sincerely hope this inspires you in any type of form. If you are interested in supporting The Glacier Trust, please follow the instructions shown above.
